The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy
Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.
Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great Book....... Comment: Another great book in this series. I found it a little slow in the beginning just because there were a lot of facts and background being introduced. Stick with it though it all ties together down the road about half way through found I couldn't put it down and was along for the ride. Love, Love, Love Lisbeth Salander. I am just sad this is possibly the "last" book in the series. This book did not disappoint and was very happy I stuck with it!!
Customer Rating: Summary: I didn't love it, but you should probably read it anyhow. Comment: I was late to the party with the first book in the Millennium series, and even then, it wasn't an instant love affair. I really enjoyed the first two books, but I found there were parts that seemed more uneven than others, and even moments in the characters and plot which gave me serious pause.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest made roughly the same impression on me. I found it fantastically entertaining, but not wholly satisfying. Lisbeth Salander in particular began to grate on my sensibilities in the third book. I'm trying now to think of why she felt off here. My only answer is she's just a little Too. Too everything. Too attractive. Too abused. Too hated. Too much of a beacon for Larsson's tribe of Men Who Hate Women. Her Too-ness didn't really bother me in the first book, started to be a problem in the second, but bloomed into its final nature as an obstacle now. She changed into a kind of comic book character, and that's too bad. A lot of what I liked about her initially was how Larsson made me believe that this extremely improbably woman could exist.
Still, a very entertaining book. Smarter than most of the other books you can find in similar categories. I'm loathe to pan it. It's hard to claim I didn't like something, at least, that I read so compulsively. But the pleasure was weakened by my issues with Lisbeth and the plot around her.
In the end, I guess the most damning thing I can say about the series (and this book) was that I didn't quite love it. And I could have, very easily. Shame that Larsson didn't live long enough to create a follow up to this flawed but impressive series.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Comment: This is my final read for the Millineum Trilogy and frankly i find it to be the best of the three. It is hard to put the book down. Quite frankly i am sad the author has passed away. I will miss Lisabeth and Mikael.
Customer Rating: Summary: Could not put it down Comment: It's a great read, as are the first two novels in the trilogy. The writing (and translation) are superb, the twists and turns exciting. Most importantly, it makes the reader think about good and evil, decision-making in organizations and society, and the legacies of corruption in government.
Customer Rating: Summary: good but not as good as the first two... Comment: I like everyone else whose a fan of this trilogy wishes Stieg Larsson had stayed with us long enough to finish the supposed 10 books that were to be this series...I loved, loved, LOVED the first two books - this one - the hornets nest - was a bit too long.
I love Salander and Blomkvist but Salander, especially, is hardly in the third one and Blomvist, was meandering it seems, doing what he does best, lovin' the ladies.
My interest wasn't peaked until the last 100 pages where the first two had me riveted from the start. Great books, original - first two, five star all the way, the 3rd one? I think it might have been a jumping board for subplots to future books - too much fluff that was irrelevant. Well never know.
But as a trilogy - excellent.
